2019 ended on a high note and we are equally excited about the new year. As we begin 2020, we’re embarking on a new journey filled with artistic projects, new musical collaborations and exciting new performances with great musicians and friends.
Here are some of Laurent’s performances at the start of the year. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming musical engagements and performing at special events.

Saturday, February 1 – The Art of Wood Fired Ceramics, Community Arts Center in Wallingford
Artist Reception featuring Peter Callas– Performance by Mélange Jazz Collective Quartet: featuring bassist Bert Harris, saxophonist Laurent Bass, pianist David Dzubinski, percussionist Karen Smith.The Art of Woodfired Ceramics featuring Peter Callas
This invitational international exhibition, curated by Brett Thomas and Mark Tyson, features work by 40 artists from Japan, France, New Zealand, Indonesia, Denmark and the United States. The work showcases the uniqueness, power and breadth of the wood-firing technique with styles ranging from wabi-sabi to expressionism.
The show is anchored by a collection of large expressionist ceramic sculptures by Peter Callas who is celebrating his 50th year as a ceramic artist.

Wednesday, February 19 – Jazz Bridge Neighborhood and Special Concert Series
Jazz Bridge concert at Fellowship Hall, Ridge Avenue United Methodist Church, 7:30pm-9:00pm, Neighborhood and Special Concert Series featuring Mélange Jazz Collective Sextet, curated by Bert Harris.
Mélange will perform original compositions penned by members of the band.

Laurent Bass – tenor saxophone.
David Dzubinski – piano.
Pio Voluntad – drums.
Robert Morales – conga drums.
Leslie D. Hamilton – spoken word poetry.
Jazz Bridge’s Real Philadelphia Book/Neighborhood Concert series showcases a great lineup of local jazz musicians who are invited to perform their original music compositions to audiences who appreciate jazz and blues.
These concerts take place during October through May on first Wednesdays in Cheltenham, PA; on first Thursdays in Collingswood, NJ, and on third Wednesdays in Roxborough (Philadelphia), PA.
